Hi, I’m Sokhayouk. I live in Cambodia. Recently I work for Women Program of Open Institute. Our women program works to promote gender equality in Cambodia through the strategic use of ICT.
I feel very happy to share and join discussion with all of you in my blog in the purpose of raising awareness of Women’s Rights in Cambodia.
Women and Men are the same human being and have the same rights. But in practice, man referred to someone who is powerful, strong, and a gold that always clean while woman referred to someone who is weak, no education, and as a white cloths that is easily get dirty and never clean. Because of the unequally treat of women and men in family and society, women became the victims in nonstop violence against women cases in Cambodia.
Recently, violence against women in Cambodia is dramatically increase and crueler. At lease 3-5 girls were raped, wives were punished by husbands, women and girls were trafficked within the country and across the border, girls’ images were transferred or traded through bluetooth or Internet every minute, hour and day.
Starting from you and I, the situation of Cambodian women will be improved for a better status as well as the better status of Cambodian society. I am very appreciate for all of your sharing, discussing, and changing, I strongly believe we can achieve this.
